Quick answer

Check that the game is updated, record the mission and last action, and test whether menus still respond. If combat remains stuck, try reopening an available save without overwriting a working fallback. Patch 1.1 is out, but its notes do not establish that every enemy-turn hang is fixed.

Identify the stuck state

What you can observeInterpretationNext step
The next actor eventually movesA delay, not a permanently stuck turnRecord how long it took and whether it repeats at the same action.
Camera or menus respond but combat never advancesA possible combat-state lockRecord the actor and action before leaving the mission.
Menus and the whole application stop respondingApplication freezeUse the crash guide after recording the failure.
The same action locks again from the same saveA reproducible casePreserve that save and document the steps instead of changing unrelated settings.

02

Attempt recovery without losing your fallback

  1. 1

If an animation is still progressing, allow it to finish. There is no verified universal timeout after which every long turn is permanently stuck.

  2. 2

Record the mission, round, last action, menu response and installed version. A short clip is more useful than a screenshot that only shows an enemy on screen.

  3. 3

If the menu works, use it to leave rather than forcing shutdown. EA warns that quitting before progress finishes saving can lose progress; when control returns, allow saving to finish before exiting. If control never returns, there is no loss-free exit promised here.

  4. 4

Reopen the most recent usable save or checkpoint. Preserve any earlier working save and do not overwrite it with repeated experiments.

  5. 5

Install pending updates before retesting. If using PC, try the platform's verify/repair option when the fault persists. Neither step guarantees repair of an affected save.

  6. 6

If the same sequence fails again, use the worksheet below and submit the result through EA's forum yourself.

What changed since launch?

Released update

Patch 1.1 includes combat-processing and specific soft-lock fixes. That is relevant context, not proof that your particular turn issue is covered.

Still unknown

Without a matching official description or a repeatable post-update test, we cannot identify a common cause or promise that a campaign can be recovered.

One-save campaigns

If your run has no earlier usable save, repeated reloads may offer no new recovery path. Do not delete the campaign to test a guess.

04

Compare one retry at a time

AttemptKeep fixedRecord
ReloadSame campaign and missionDoes the same actor stop at the same action?

No outcomes are filled in: this is an original troubleshooting worksheet, not claimed gameplay evidence.

Frequently asked questions

Should I lower graphics settings for a stuck enemy turn?

Only use that as a performance comparison when the program is still progressing slowly. A higher frame rate does not by itself demonstrate that a combat-state lock is repaired.
